Dear LCS:

Thanks for providing Meals on Wheels for mom. It is a great relief to me to have this service, as I live out of town.

I have worked with LCS over the years in my job. I am thankful that now, when we need help, you folks can assist us.

For many seniors and disabled people, getting to the store, or cooking a meal can be a challenge. Yet healthy eating at any age is key to maintaining good health. That’s why each week, we deliver Meals on Wheels to seniors and disabled people. This program has no age restriction, and is available to anyone who is unable to shop or prepare meals for themselves. This includes those recovering from surgery or illness.

Why chose a program like Meals on Wheels? Kevin recently sent us this note, and it explains why Meals on Wheels is important to him and his family:

How to apply

Call Lutheran Community Services and request an application for the Meals on Wheels program. Included in the application is information on the nutritional content of each meal, including sodium and calories, so that you may order those meals that fit your dietary needs.

When we receive the application, a member of our staff will contact you to review the application and take your first order. Further orders should be placed by Wednesday of each week for Friday delivery.

You can either order by mail, or order by phone. Seven or more meals must be ordered at a time. If you are a public client, your meals may be free. Private pay clients pay per meal. The volunteer delivering your meals can accept payment.

When ordering Meals on Wheels, you will be able to select from our 22 dinners and 4 breakfasts. We ask that you order a minimum of 7 meals at a time, but you can order more! Our current menu includes:

  • Pork Steak with New Potatoes
  • Baked Ham with Pineapple
  • Macaroni and cheese
  • Chicken Casserole
  • Baked Chicken and Scalloped Potatoes
  • Roast Turkey with Dressing
  • Italian Veal with Marinara Sauce
  • Chicken Fried Steak
  • Meatloaf
  • Braised Beef Tips
  • Spaghetti with Meatballs
  • Beef Stew
  • Swedish Meatballs
  • Mushroom Omelet
  • Crab Casserole
  • Baked Pollack and Vegetables
  • Chicken Patty with Mashed Potatoes
  • and more!

To apply for Meals on Wheels

  1. Download the application form (Adobe PDF file - plug-in required )
  2. Print out the form and fill it out
  3. Mail or fax the completed form to us as indicated below.
  4. A Meals on Wheels volunteer or staff member will contact you to set up delivery.
