Creating, Connecting, and Shoring Up Resources for Families

photoThe Family Resource Center is:

  • A dynamic community-based, strength-based program supporting the health and well-being of individuals and families through community partnerships.
  • A gathering place or “hub” of sorts where individuals, children, and families learn and grow, share support and information, connect and build friendships, access formal and informal resources, and together create a sense of community.
  • A grassroots program that fosters ownership and planning from the neighbors and community it serves.

Along with the Family Resource Center at The Village at Angle Lake, Lutheran Community Services manages five other Family Support Centers in King and Snohomish counties and is looked to as an advocate and leader in the development of these centers. The professional staff at LCS works with residents to strengthen the communities. This results in people working together to mobilize their talents and resources and build stronger, more closely-knit communities.

The Family Resource Center recently opened its doors January 17, 2007 to serve the city of SeaTac and surrounding communities. The following program(s) are now available:

  • Free Tax Preparation is offered Monday and Wednesday from 5-9pm and Saturday from 10am-2pm. Spanish language assistance is available.
  • English as a Second Language (ESL) Classes are offered Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9-11am. Free childcare is available to program participants.
