Mount Angeles View Public Housing
Through a collaboration of agencies, Lutheran Community Services NW opened the Mt. Angeles View Resident-Family Center located at 2620 South Francis, Port Angeles. The Resident-Family Center offers a variety of family centered activities and learning opportunities for all residents at Mt. Angeles View. Agencies involved in the collaboration include The Housing Authority of Clallam County, Lutheran Community Services NW-Parent Line, Peninsula College, Camp Fire USA and the Boys and Girls Club of the Olympic Peninsula – Mt. Angeles Unit. With this unique partnership, residents have access to a variety of services right in their own neighborhood.
Lutheran Community Services NW-Parent Line provides overall coordination of activities at the Center as well as a staff person on site 20 hours per week. Family centers subscribe to the premise that assisting families to engage in their neighborhood creates healthy and safe communities.
LCSNW-Parent Line offers fun, educational, family centered activities such as crafts, parenting, life skills and nutrition classes at the center. Each Wednesday evening the center offers “Family Night” which includes an interesting topic, activity or craft, which involves the whole family. A light dinner is also served. Creating connections to other folks in the neighborhood for support, nurturing and social activities strengthens both the individual and neighborhood.
The Family Center is an inviting place with a comfortable living room, kitchen, classroom, computer lab and children’s area. It is a great place to visit with friends, have a cup of coffee, or read the paper. Drop In hours at the center are: Monday and Wednesday 1:00 – 4:00 pm and Friday 10:00 am – 2:00 pm.
