LCS’ Multicultural Community Services program is providing summer ESL classes to refugee students in the Portland area through its Multnomah County School Impact Project. The classes target middle school age youth who have not previously had access to these services during the summer months.

Members of the community joined with LCS staff on June 23rd to honor the resilience and courage of refugees by participating in the Footsteps to Freedom World Refugee Day Walk. World Refugee Day focuses global attention on the plight of refugees, the causes of their exile, and the contribution they make to their new communities. Proceeds from the 5 K walk through Portland’s Laurelhurst Park benefited LCS’ Immigrant and Refugee Services.
