Description:
|
The person in this position is responsible for facilitating evening Batterer Intervention groups; maintaining appropriate records;
relating to other staff in a supportive manner; providing updates to referral sources; recommending and carrying out agency policies; remaining professionally current and representing the agency to the community.
Responsibilities;
1. Facilitate Psycho education groups who have been convicted or perpetuated Domestic Violence
2. Complete necessary paperwork to document assessment and client progress.
3. Attend monthly meetings with DHS-CW, Community Corrections, as well as agency staff meetings.
4. Receive supervision and consultation.
5. Contribute to planning and future directions of the agency and participate in decision making.
6. Utilize and provide consultation to community resources when appropriate.
6. Follow professional and agency standards and stay apprised of current developments in Domestic Violence Treatment.
7. Represent the agency in the community.
8. Assumes other tasks as delegated by the Community Director.
Typical Tasks and Activities;
The tasks and activities outlined below are typical of those encountered by a person in this position. The specific duties of the position will vary dependent upon the size of the office, support staff available, the
individual and collective skills of other professional staff and the needs within a specific department or office. Accordingly, such tasks and activities may change over time.
1. Provide direct services to clients.
2. Establish an on-going therapeutic relationship.
3. Assess client problem, prepare treatment plan and write progress notes for each session.
4. Review cases and revise treatment plans, as needed.
5. Close cases in a timely fashion.
6. Attend supervision, consultation and staff meetings regularly.
7. Return phone calls, make collateral contacts when necessary, and coordinates care with other agencies involved with the client when appropriate.
8. Participate in staff planning meetings.
9. Comply with federal, state, county and agency standards and requirements.
10. Read current professional literature, receive training on a regular basis and present pertinent material to other staff members.
11. Develop and present special workshops or seminars for clients on a regular or periodic basis and teaches classes for the community.
12. Prepares and delivers speeches to service organizations, church groups and other community groups.
Specifications:
1. Job Preparation: Masters Degree in Social Work, Counseling or similar clinically related field from a recognized graduate school preferred.
2. Bi-lingual/bi-cultural candidates are encouraged to apply.
3. Experience working in the field of Domestic Violence treatment desired.
4. Supervision Exercised: None
5. Communications: By far, the large majority of the contact a person in this position has is with clients. Such communication is highly sensitive and confidential in nature. In addition, there is frequent
contact with family members and other professionals, such as doctors, lawyers, probation officers, court officials, school personnel and C.S.D. workers. Periodic telephone contact is required to maintain these
relationships, along with occasional or regular staffing. Such communications are as complex as the systems within which they occur and require a great deal of discretion, tact, political and professional awareness.
