| Just a mile from the Astoria-Megler bridge, the LCS Astoria Office, also known as “Hope House”, held their second fundraising banquet on April 28th at the historic Liberty Theatre McTavish room. With close to 120 people in attendance from Oregon and SW Washington congregations and communities, this year we were able to raise over $20,000, thanks to all our partners and friends of Hope House.
In the capable hands of our M.C. Rev. John Wecker, our program featured LCS Regional Director Salah Ansary, who told us of his family’s remarkable journey from Afghanistan to US citizenship. Speaker Kathy Bowser shared how her grandchildren and family were helped by grief counseling provided by both Hope House and our Beaverton counseling program.
Community members in attendance included Terry Finklein, CEO of Columbia Memorial Hospital of Astoria, who presented a check of support, and spoke to us about the future partnership between the hospital and Hope House.
A big thank you to our fundraising banquet volunteers, with special thanks to Lauren Harms and our faithful banquet chair Becky Nelson. We had a wonderful time and raised generous gifts for Hope House. Thank you to everyone! |
