By order of Snohomish County Superior Court Local Rule, seminar
attendance is mandatory for all parents involved in divorce,
custody or paternity proceedings filed after September 1, 1994. Snohomish County Superior Court contracts with Divorce Lifeline to provide these parenting seminars. They are four hours in length and offered each month at various Snohomish County locations.
The purpose of this seminar is to help parents understand how
children are affected by parental conflict. Seminar topics include:
- How to protect my child from parental conflict
- How to recognize
when divorce/separation is affecting my child
- How to communicate
better with the other parent
- How to get further help if I or
my child needs it
Facilitators have extensive education and experience
helping children and families with difficulties related to separation
and divorce.
You must pre-register by mail. No money is collected on site. Seminars
are filled on a first-come, first-serve basis, so early registration
is encouraged, especially if your work schedule requires requesting
time off.
Each parent must submit a completed registration form (see navigation
bar). You will be scheduled to attend a seminar separate from the
other parent, unless both parents submit a written statement requesting
joint attendance.
Class dates and locations vary each week. Please see the seminar schedule
(navigation bar) for the latest list. Once registered, you will
receive a confirmation notice with the seminar date, time and directions
to the site.
Upon completion of the seminar, you will be given a certificate,
which must be returned to your attorney for filing
with the court (if you are acting pro se, you must file it yourself).
A security officer is on site at each seminar to assure the safety
of all participants and appropriate participation. Your registration
is confidential.
No children allowed.
Payment is by money order only. No cash or personal checks are accepted.
