By order of Snohomish County Superior Court Local Rule, seminar attendance is mandatory for all parents involved in divorce, paternity or custody proceedings filed after September 1, 1994.
For the Kids’ Sake seminars are provided through a contract with Snohomish County Superior Court to satisfy this mandatory requirement. Seminars are scheduled four times each month at various Snohomish County locations.
The purpose of this seminar is to help parents understand how children are affected by separation and parental conflict. Seminar topics include:
- How to protect my child from parental conflict
- How to recognize
when divorce/separation is affecting my child
- How to communicate
better with the other parent
- How to get further help if I or
my child needs it
The Facilitators are masters level therapists and have extensive experience helping children and families with difficulties related to separation and divorce.
You must pre-register by mail. No money is collected on site.
Seminars are filled on a first-come, first-serve basis, so early registration is encouraged, especially if your work schedule requires requesting time off.
Each parent must submit a completed registration form. You will be scheduled to attend a seminar separate from the other parent, unless both parents submit a written statement requesting joint attendance.
Class dates and locations vary each week. Visit our schedule page to see latest schedule of Snohomish County Parenting Seminars. Once registered, you will receive a confirmation notice with the seminar date, time and directions to the site.
Upon completion of the seminar, you will be given a certificate, which must be returned to your attorney for filing with the court (if you are acting pro se, you must file it yourself).

It can include pay stubs, child support checks, welfare or DSHS paperwork, unemployment or disability paperwork, or a signed, hand-written financial declaration if you have no income.

Registration closes 72 hours prior to a seminar, so please mail your registration as soon as possible.
If you cancel at least 72 hours in advance, we will refund your fee minus a $10 processing fee. If less than 72 hours notice is given, one-half of the fee will be refunded. No refund will be given if you do not notify us before the class or if you do not show up. (No refund will be given after 4 months from the initial receipt of fee.)
We will reschedule your seminar one time for free if you call at least 72 hours in advance. There is a $10 fee each time you reschedule after the first time, or if you give us less than 72 hours notice.
