Divorce, separation, or any ending of a relationship
often results in a painful and difficult experience. Individuals
find this an important time of transition. Choices made can affect
your entire life.
Divorce Lifeline provides group therapy where individuals learn
ways to cope, meet with peers with similar experiences, and work
toward healing and a richer life. Divorce Lifeline offers insight,
experience, warmth, and understanding. Each group is led by a Master’s
level counselor who facilitates the group in its therapeutic process.
They are especially skilled in working with the separated and divorced
person. Group therapy is a very effective form of treatment and
is considerably less expensive than individual therapy.
Short Term
Short-term groups are held for 10 weeks, and have 5-7 members.
These support groups have been described as a “life saver” by
many former group members. The group environment provides a
safe place for members to talk about the range of feelings they are experiencing and how confused they are. The group leader and fellow group
members are supportive in helping each other gain a better
understanding of their situation. This allows people to make better decisions for themselves and to work towards their own health and healing.
Long Term
The ongoing group, which members attend for at least 20 weeks after they
have completed the short-term group, provides a more in-depth experience for group members. Members explore how their relationships evolved to the point of dysfunction. They also learn how to develop healthier relationships in the future. Members report that they understand themselves and their needs better than they ever have and are able to lead more fulfilling lives after their group experience.
Fees
Group member fees are based on a sliding scale of the member's net monthly income.
