The walls and windows are in, the roof is on, and soon we’ll see landscaping, fresh paint, and signs of interior finish work. The delays of last winter’s extreme rainfall will mean that full occupancy of the Community Services building probably won’t occur until November, although we are hoping for the first floor childcare center and family support center to be completed sooner.
We welcome Easter Seals as a new partner at the Angle Lake Community Center. They will be operating the extended hour childcare center that has always been a priority of the SeaTac community. Along with the Community Health Centers of King County, LATCH, and LCS, the completed vision of the Village will include senior housing, childcare, health care, a family support center, and other community services. This final fund-raising effort will compliment past individual and church donations, and funding from foundations and local/state governments, toward the $8.2 million project.

We’re thrilled to announce that we met the multi-million dollar challenge grants from the Kresge Foundation and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and their checks representing $950,000 are in the bank! We’re so grateful for all the pledges that have made Called To Community - Called To Care a successful capital campaign. Many volunteers have worked on the campaign but we would especially like to thank what we refer to as the “End of Campaign Committee.” These faithful members took us into the homestretch:
Frank and Sandy Jennings, Co-Chairpersons
Phil and Ellen Nelson
Jim McGinnis
Al Vraspir
Linda Evanson
Jerry Bayne
John Gienapp
Jim Rismiller
Boots Winterstein
As you can imagine construction delays result in additional costs so we continue to welcome contributions. Or you might want to consider extending your pledge to help cover start-up costs of our new programs. More information on these programs, and how you can lend your support, can be found on our new Village at Angle Lake website.
Stay tuned for the grand opening when the building will be transformed from a capital project to programs that will bring the LCS mission of health, justice, and hope to South King County.
