Community Health Clinic

The South King County region has a significant population that is at or near the poverty level and does not have access to medical care. Due to the lack of medical facilities in the area, the residents of the SeaTac community need to travel to surrounding communities to receive medical care. This is a hardship due to the time and cost of travel.

Community Health Centers of King County (CHCKC), a non-profit corporation, will lease space in the new Community Services Building and will offer medical care close to where much of the underserved population live. Additionally, it will be on the bus line so access will be more convenient for those without adequate transportation. This clinic will provide the full range of family medical services and will be available by appointment. CHCKC will help clients through the necessary paperwork to receive low and no cost medical care.

The Community Health Clinic will be the first of its kind in the City of SeaTac. As a non-profit health care provider, CHCKC focuses much of its care toward low income, non-or under-insured, and Medicaid patients as well as the general population. It will operate six days a week.

All of the services the clinic will provide have been noted as important deficiencies in South King County and need to be addressed. This information is documented in studies carried out by King County United Way and the City of SeaTac Human Services Plan. Lutheran Community Services agrees that this important gap in services is one that fits with the mission to partner with communities for health, justice and hope.

CHCKC will lease 4,000 square feet of space from LCS. This will give CHCKC the necessary space to provide medical services. This lease income will provide a steady revenue stream. This revenue will assist in providing a solid base for the long-term operation of the community services building.
