Family Support Centers create opportunities for building on the
strengths of individuals, accessing resources, and connecting with
others to create a sense of community. They are a place where everyone
feels like part of the family. Centers work for social change by
engaging families in addressing the issues that affect their lives.
In a nutshell, parents get support and share interests; neighbors
become friends; volunteers make a difference; kids feel important
and get involved; and everyone learns and grows. The Family Support
Center will be designed and developed by the residents of the community.
The agency then implements the plans as determined by the community.
This means that each newly developed Family Support Center is unique. |
