Stories of Love...
My husband and I have been married 10 years when we decided
to adopt. The decision didn't come to easy at first because of
the fears of the what-ifs. We didn’t have any children and
felt we needed more in life. So the process began and so did the
adventure. We wanted to adopt one child. So maybe we could test the waters
and get use to being parents. So when children profiles arrived
we thought we could look through and find a child that will help
fill the void in our hearts, and house. (But I don’t think
anyone could ever look at children profiles and find just one.)
In all honesty after seeing the children’s pictures, if my
husband would have allowed me to I would of taken every single
child. I was able to convince him to adopt more than one because there
were so many sibling groups needing a family. We couldn't bear
the fact that they might not get adopted because they weren't babies,
or because they have been blessed with siblings. Then a caseworker called and said they had a group of siblings
that would be separated unless a family was willing to take all
three children. Well how could anyone allow these precious children to be separated
from each other? Of course we wanted the children…all 3
of them. The case worker told us that 2 of our 3 children will
probably only speak maybe 20 words max, will be unable to be social
and have a difficult time with transition. We started by visiting the children in their foster home. After
several visits, we began to have the children visit us. We took
it slow for the benefit of the children. After a month, they stayed
and became a permanent part of the family. So, where are we today? All 3 of them are doing well in school,
very social, very loving, and very thankful for everyday. Going into adopting 1 child my husband and I couldn't imagine
the love, joy, success and fulfillment our 3 children grant us
everyday. They have fulfilled more dreams and expand our hearts,
family, and home with every smile they share with us. They are
the BEST ADVENTURE, AND JOY that we could ever imagine. Everyday
with them (even the bad days) are the best times of our lives. We are even considering adding another child in the near future.
Becoming foster/adoptive parents is and always will be the best
decision in our lives!!!!!!!!
